Ben Spragg, also known as “Spraggy” on Twitch, is a British professional poker player and Twitch streamer. It is not known for certain how old he is, but it is speculated that he is in his early thirties. He is from the English county of Gloucestershire.

His scores from online tournaments are no longer available to the public, but records show that his earnings from online multi-table tournaments totaled $2.302 million in January of 2015. In Sept. 2020, he ended up winning the WCOOP-Low: $5.50 NLHE Turbo PKO Freezeout event, which was worth $4,349. The following year, in September 2021, he won the WCOOP $1,050 7-Max Turbo PKO Freezeout event, which was worth $67,969.

Spragg has a total of $103,135 in live tournament cashes. With 125,000 followers, his Twitch channel, Spraggy, is one of the most popular poker channels on the site.

He receives sponsorship from PokerStars. In addition, he is engaged to Marle Cordeiro, an American professional poker player, and poker presenter.

Ben finishes sixth for €30,210 in the €1,100 Main Event at the UK & Ireland Poker Tour 2019 in Galway, Ireland. It is the most money he has ever won in a single live tournament in his career.

The Start

According to his profile on Team PokerStars Online, Spragg graduated from college in 2012 with a degree in journalism, film, and media. However, he was never required to make use of his academic credentials because he went on to pursue a professional career as poker player as soon as he completed his education.

He first became acquainted with the game while playing it with his friends in their garage. He also enjoyed watching YouTube videos of poker players losing at the table.

Spraggy joined PokerStars in his college years with a $100 deposit and gradually built up his bankroll to $140,000 by starting at the micro stakes, the $0.02/$0.05 cash tables. He clinched some big live scores shortly after beginning his career as a poker pro.

Participation in Live Poker Tournaments

Per his Hendon page, Spragg has $103,135 in live tournament cashes. He accumulated that sum by winning 17 different live events over the course of ten years. Evidently, he has always preferred online poker over live poker, which explains his low tournament earnings by professional standards.

The first cash on his page was recorded in May 2011. After competing in a €60 No Limit Hold’em contest at the Dusk Till Dawn Casino in Nottingham, United Kingdom, which is owned by Rob Yong, he came in 100th place and won €125 in prize money.

He finished sixth out of 860 players in the €1,100 Main Event of the UK & Ireland Poker Tour in Galway, Ireland, in August 2013. He won €30,210 (approximately $40,000 at the time). That is his highest live tournament score to date.

In January of 2019, he finished 140th in the $25,000 NLHE Poker Players Championship that was held at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. For his efforts, he was awarded $35,000. He won $10,120 in the $2,400 WPTDeepStacks Main Event at the DeepStack Championship Poker Series in Las Vegas in July 2021.

“Spraggy” is best known for participating in online tournaments and live streaming them on Twitch. Despite this, PocketFives, the online poker tournament database site, no longer publicly tracks his online MTT results. According to an archived version of his profile, he had $2.302 million in online MTT cashes in January 2015, with his largest cash being $35,485.

Given the passage of time, we can safely assume that he’s earned multiples of that on the virtual felt since then. It’s also worth noting that he used to play on PokerStars as “Spraggs,” as well as “SPRAGGS” on the now-defunct Full Tilt, “sprags12345” on partypoker, and “topbeaver69” on 888Poker. He now plays on Stars under the sponsored pro account “Spraggy.”

So far, he has won two World Championship of Online Poker titles. He won $4,349 in the low tier $5.50 NLHE 8-Max PKO Freezeout event in September 2020. In that tournament, he defeated a massive field of 12,192 players.

The following September, he won the $1,050 7-Max Turbo PKO Freezeout event for $67,969. He won the title by defeating a player from Hungary known as “Wildace hun” in a head-to-head match.

In April 2021, he finished second for $42,296 in the $1,050 SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker) NLHE Progressive KO event on Stars.

Ben Spragg as a Popular Twitch Live Streamer

Spragg is perhaps best known within the online poker community for his Twitch broadcasts. His current following of 125,000 makes him one of the site’s most popular poker streamers. On a regular basis, he broadcasts himself competing in online tournaments hosted by PokerStars. His website account was created in February 2016.

Spragg also has a YouTube channel with the username “Ben Spragg,” which has around 17,000 subscribers. His content consists of edited clips from his Twitch live streams. His YouTube videos regularly receive tens of thousands of views.

He is also on Twitter, where he has approximately 30,000 followers.
